Haley Keast is a registered child psychologist; she received a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary.

Haley’s passion is helping young people thrive and become the best versions of themselves. Haley approaches each child with empathy, compassion, respect, and fun; she considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients and offer support during moments of hardship and joy. By fostering a warm and caring space, Haley ensures that children can freely express their thoughts, feelings, and concerns, allowing her to tailor her therapeutic approach to their unique needs.

Haley has in-depth experience working with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behavioural problems, ADHD, parenting support, autism, learning disabilities, self- esteem, and gender identity. Haley also has extensive training in treating traumatic experiences through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT). Haley obtained invaluable experience working with Indigenous communities where she provided intensive trauma therapy for children and their families utilizing a bi- cultural and land-based approaches. In her counselling practice, Haley also draws upon other therapeutic modalities including play-based interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotion- focused therapy, narrative therapy, and dialectical-behavioral therapy. Major tenets of therapy that Haley teaches includes learning to tolerate and manage difficult emotions, reframing thinking, and fostering a sense of competence and resiliency. Given Haley’s 10+ years of experience, she has specialized training in working with toddlers to young adults in their early twenties.

Haley understands the crucial role that families play in a child's development and overall well-being. She firmly believes in a holistic approach that incorporates family dynamics and systems into the therapeutic process. Haley collaborates closely with the child’s team, providing them with the necessary tools and strategies to best support the child.

Haley also has comprehensive training in conducting psychoeducational assessments. Haley takes the approach that while finding a specific diagnosis can be validating and useful information, ultimately a diagnosis should inform the next steps of how to best support the individual. Haley’s perspective is that a specific diagnosis opens the doorway to accessing support; how the support is implemented is of the utmost importance.

Originally from Fort Frances, ON, Haley is happiest spending time at the lake with family and friends.
