Treatment & Conditions
At Moroz Child Psychology Group, we understand that successful treatment is built on two foundational pillars: expertise in evidence-based interventions and a trusting relationship with every child and their family. We believe that while research-backed strategies are essential, it is the therapeutic bond that often unlocks true growth and progress. Children and families must feel seen, valued, and understood before meaningful change can occur.
Our clinicians are highly skilled in treating a range of clinical concerns, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), emotional regulation difficulties, and behavioral challenges. We also work with children who are facing challenges that are not part of a formal diagnosis, such as difficulties forming friendships, low self-esteem, family changes, grief, or navigating life transitions. Each child’s needs are unique, and we tailor our treatment approach accordingly.
What Sets Our Treatment Approach Apart
- The Power of Relationship: We believe that the relationship between a child and their therapist is the heart of treatment. A child must feel safe, supported, and motivated to engage. We take the time to get to know your child—their interests, their strengths, and their unique personality.
- Family Involvement: Parents and caregivers are an essential part of the process. Depending on your child’s needs and your family’s preferences, we encourage:
- Parents remaining with their child for the entire session.
- Parents joining at the beginning of a session to provide updates.
- Parents joining at the end of a session for a wrap-up discussion, including strategies to use at home and updates on progress. This flexibility is a cornerstone of our approach, as we understand that families feel most empowered when they are included and supported throughout treatment.
- Practical, Real-Life Strategies: We emphasize providing families with realistic, practical tools they can use in daily life. Our psychologists work with parents to develop strategies that align with their household routines, school demands, and their child’s temperament. We often collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure consistency and to bridge the gap between the clinic, home, and school.
- Support Beyond the Office: When desired, our clinicians work directly with families in their homes or other environments to implement behavior and support systems firsthand. This may involve setting up reinforcement systems and token economies, creating visual supports, or helping a child work through anxiety and compulsions in the spaces where these challenges arise. We also assist with establishing healthy routines and discipline systems tailored to each family’s needs.
- Tailored Therapeutic Approaches: While Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is our most frequently used and research-supported approach, we understand that no single method fits every child or situation. Depending on the child’s age, needs, and presenting concerns, our practitioners adapt their techniques. At times, we work primarily with parents, offer teacher-focused interventions, or implement pure behavioral strategies. In other cases, we blend cognitive and behavioral approaches or utilize more refined, child-specific modalities. For example, our work with ADHD teens and adults often includes cognitive strategies designed to reduce boredom and promote task completion by emphasizing the pride and satisfaction that follow goal achievement.
- Specialized Expertise: In addition to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), our team offers specialized treatment modalities, including:
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – for trauma, anxiety, and distressing memories.
- Synergetic Play Therapy – using play to help children process emotions and build self-regulation skills.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills – to enhance emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) – the gold-standard treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
